Financial support, here to help:
Did you know that most of our insurers are now offering instalment based payment for their policies, and on some home and motor solutions we are able to offer (and always have offered) interest-free direct debit payments. Allowing you to spread the cost of your insurance evenly across the year, helping you better manage your finances and reduce the impact of having to pay it ‘all in one go’.
If you have any specific questions about your insurances, please speak with your usual Sutton Winson team.
The Government has announced flexibility with regards to MOT tests from 30th March 2020 for 6 months. Please check the government advice here.
As long as your car is in a road-worthy condition, your insurance will remain valid and the renewal will be invited as normal.

No, if you are temporarily staying away from home due to COVID-19, there is no need to tell us, your car will still be covered. However, please ensure that you give us your email address so we can email your renewal documents to you, if your renewal is due in the next few months. If you change their address permanently, you must let us know.

Yes, please contact us with their details so we can arrange cover. If they are claims and convictions free, we’ll do it free of charge.
My friend or family member needs to use my car to do my shopping. Can they be covered?
I’m self-isolating at a different address, do I need to give us the new address?
Even if you’re are not using your car on the road, by law you must insure it.
We can offer Laid up cover (Accidental Damage Fire and Theft cover) for the period that the vehicle is not being used during the duration of this COVID-19 emergency, but only if the car is:
- declared off the road with the DVLA (SORN)
- SORN for at least a period of 30 continuous days
- kept in a locked garage or off the road on a private driveway
Please contact us if you’d like to explore this option.
I can’t get my MOT done due to self-isolation, the MOT centre being closed or not wanting to visit the MOT centre during the current situation?
If you have to drive to your workplace because of the impact of Covid-19, your insurance policy will not be affected. You do not need to contact your insurer to update your documents or extend your cover.
If you are volunteering, for example to transport medicines or groceries to support others who are impacted by Covid-19, you will be covered whilst you undertake these unpaid activities. Further, if you require higher mileage, please give us a call and we’ll increase it for you free of charge.
