I joined General Accident Insurance Company (now a legacy company of Aviva Plc) at its head office in Perth, Scotland in 1980. In a role that involved both underwriting and audit, I worked in excess of 20 General Accident offices across the UK; my record was 13 months in one hotel!
In 1986 I moved with General Accident to the south of England and into a sales role. When I left General Accident, I became a co-owner and director of a commercial broker based on the south coast, which was my entry into the world of insurance broking. In 1996, five colleagues and I left that business to start the southern office of Sutton Winson, with me joining as both shareholder and director.
In 2009 I was appointed to my current position and now lead the business and service a growing number of Corporate, International, SME, Affinity Personal Lines and High Net Worth clients located throughout the UK.
I have been a board member of the UK orientated UNA (formerly Unitas) Broker Alliance for many years, and have played an active part in supporting the UNiBA Partners global network before being elected to its board in 2017.
