Exciting career growth opportunity for a Commercially aware Client Handler to play an essential role within one of the UK’s top Independent Broker’s.

As a Client Handler, you’ll be responsible for managing your own book of business within  our successful Commercial Schemes Team in Burgess Hill who provide specialist insurance solutions to a broad spectrum of clients, including: Recruitment & Payroll, Sports Clubs and Property Owners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll be the first point of contact for your clients and will use this to build and manage key relationships.  You’ll gain exposure to all aspects of managing your own portfolio of SME clients, through to building new business opportunities. 

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Seek and maximise opportunities working with the team to research and develop new opportunities for existing schemes and potential new schemes to move into
  • Work efficiently on achieving targets for retention, new business and cross selling
  • Deal with general enquiries from clients, including new business, mid-term amendments and renewals, with a key emphasis on retention and providing the best Customer Service at all times
  • Manage policy renewals effectively and with accuracy
  • Draft reports professionally, engaging with clients obtaining the required information
  • Provide support to the wider team

The Schemes Team has been established for over 30 years and has big growth ambitions in this sector which provides opportunities to develop as an individual in areas that traditional broking may not offer.

We have delegated authority with one major insurer, which means we don’t act in the traditional role of a broker but we make underwriting decisions about new business, MTAs and renewals.  We also enjoy very high retention rates of over 95% which demonstrates the quality of our service delivery, therefore an ability to deliver a high standard of client service is crucial to our success.

Whilst you will be based in our Burgess Hill office, you may occasionally be asked to attend external client meetings with other Team Members.  It’s therefore essential that you are able to offer a degree of flexibility around your core hours. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Good technical understanding of Commercial products, including Material Damage, Business Interruption, Liability and all other classes of commercial insurance.
  • Organisation, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Passion, energy and a strong customer service ethos
  • Effective, confident & considerate communication and an ability to adapt your communication style accordingly
  • Intuitive thinking and confidence with decision making
  • Strong IT skills – ideally using Acturis (not essential)
  • Have a Cert CII or a genuine interest in achieving and continuing development
