Sutton Winson Ltd, one of the UK’s largest independent Insurance Brokers, are looking for an experienced and talented commercially aware Client Executive (Senior Client Handler) to join its Schemes Team in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

Playing an integral role within our Schemes Team, who provide specialist insurance to Sports Clubs and Property Owners throughout the UK, you’ll be responsible for managing your own book of clients, predominantly in the Sports sector.

On a day-to-day basis, your responsibilities will include:

  • Seeking and maximising opportunities working with the team to research and develop new opportunities for existing schemes and potential new schemes to move into
  • Working efficiently on achieving targets for retention, new business and cross selling
  • Dealing with general enquiries from clients, including new business, mid-term amendments and renewals, with a key emphasis on retention and providing the best Customer Service at all times
  • Managing policy renewals effectively and with accuracy
  • Drafting reports professionally, engaging with clients obtaining the required information
  • Providing support to the wider team

The Schemes Team has been established for over 30 years and has big growth ambitions in this sector which provides opportunities to develop as an individual in areas that traditional broking may not offer.

This role will be your gateway to develop a future skillset to allow for development of Client Manager skills, so it’s important to have the drive and ambition to grow your own book of business, as well as handling day-to-day enquiries.

We have delegated authority with one major insurer, which means we don’t act in the traditional role of a broker but we make underwriting decisions about new business, MTAs and renewals.  We also enjoy very high retention rates of over 95% which demonstrates the quality of our service delivery, therefore an ability to deliver a high standard of client service is crucial to our success.

Whilst you will be based in our Burgess Hill office, you may occasionally be asked to attend external client meetings with other Team Members.  It’s therefore essential that you are able to offer a degree of flexibility around your core hours.

It’s essential that you have experience of having worked within the Commercial Insurance sector and ideally have a good knowledge of Material Damage, Business Interruption, Liability and all other classes of commercial insurance.

We’re also looking for:

  • Passion & knowledge of different Sports
  • Organisation, accuracy and attention to detail
  • A strong customer service ethos
  • Effective, confident & considerate communication and an ability to adapt your communication style accordingly
  • Intuitive thinking and convictive decision making
  • IT confidence and ideally, experience of using Acturis (not essential)
  • Educated to a minimum A Level standard (or equivalent), with GCSE/ O Level passes in English Language and Maths
  • A Cert CII qualification or at least have a keen interest in starting and committing to your CII journey

We welcome all the usual things; professionalism, accuracy and technical ability, but what we really look out for is personality, team fit and someone who is able to make a really positive difference to the team and wider company.

We love working with great people and are passionate about providing a supportive and nurturing environment.  We want you to be at the top of your game, so will actively encourage regular training and professional development through online learning, peer mentoring, lunch & learn sessions and external training.

You’ll thrive on being challenged in a role that provides balance and reward in equal measures and, in return, you’ll benefit from:

  • A rewarding role within a supportive and fun working environment for a company with an exceptional industry-wide reputation for training and development
  • A generous annual salary, reflective of your experience and commitment
  • Annual Profit Share Bonus
  • Fully funded CII journey (including Membership, Study Materials, Exam Entry and paid study leave) plus achievement awards
  • Private Healthcare Insurance
  • 22 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), rising annually up to 27 days
  • Season Ticket Loans & Bike to Work Scheme

We are a people-centric company.  To prove this, we:

  • Investors in People Gold Award holders
  • Hold Chartered Broker status
  • Were voted Top 5 Independent Insurance Broker to Work for in 2016
  • Were awarded a Training award at Insurance Age Broker Awards 2018

Our delivery of high quality, bespoke services is backed by our core values: Passionate, Expert, Straightforward and Ethical and we look for people who can demonstrate these consistently.   We work hard to recruit the right people who can make a real difference and just as hard to help them to develop their skills and knowledge.

  • Regular Training opportunities (including funded CII, online portal, peer mentoring)
  • Bright, open-plan offices, based in Burgess Hill town centre, close to the mainline station and bus routes (no onsite parking).
  • Daily dress down policy
  • Family friendly, supportive environment
  • Active wellbeing Programme with Employee Assistance Programme
  • Regular Team Building and social events (including Christmas party)
  • Proactive Corporate Social Responsibility Team with opportunities to get involved in fundraising and community focused activities.

The health and safety of our staff is of paramount importance to us, therefore, following detailed and regular Risk Assessments, we have implemented strict health and safety measures in our offices including; remote working, distanced desks, staff rotation, personal use IT and telephony equipment, a one way system and sanitation points.  We ensure that we follow the guidelines set out by the UK Government and implement appropriate changes, when necessary.
