Good planning will make a difference

18 December 2015

These last few days, certain parts of the UK experienced severe weather and extreme cases of flooding, with some areas being affected by at least 5ft of water.

In light of the UK's Met Office issuing further warnings for heavy rainfall and strong winds, we would encourage you to assess flood risks now and prepare plans to follow in the event of a flood emergency.

Planning for Floods

Allianz flood risk management guide contains immediate and effective actions that can be taken to minimise the impact of flooding.

As an Allianz policyholder you have an access to a free action telephone advice line to help with both Business Continuity Planning and Health & Safety issues. Please call 0344 893 9608.

Flood forecasting and warnings

Other good sources for flood planning information are the Environment Agency (EA), Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) websites. You will find tools to help determine if your Club is at risk of flooding, prepare a flood plan, and know what action to take if a flood does occur.

The EA, NRW and SEPA work with local authorities to provide advice and information to the public before and during flood emergencies and can be contacted 24 hours a day via their dedicated flood line number: 0345 988 1188.
